Charaka calls oil pulling kavala. Whichever name we use for it, recommended time frame is 15-20 mins.

other benefits and rationale:

  • loosen food particles (perhaps as a pre-brush rinse)

  • help to kill unwanted bacteria

  • reaches every corner of the teeth, places the brush cannot go

  • strengthen gums and remove plaque

  • strengthen facial muscles

  • promotes better digestion with less toxins in the mouth

  • may help to whiten teeth
